Cossans And Roundyhill Residents Association Information
We are a newly formed local Residents Association, which aims to help people from the local communities of
Cossans and Roundyhill, near Forfar, Angus, Scotland.
The association has been very fortunate to secure a small amount of funding, which has helped with the installation of a community defibrillator unit.
Members take part in looking after the defibrillator and do regular status check on the unit
The group has elected a guardian of this unit, who provides status feedback to the The Circuit 'the National Defibrillator Network' on a regular basis.

400kV OHL Connection We have only just become aware of this major project, (After the original consultation period has expired!)
Kintore-Fiddes-Tealing 400kV OHL Connection
This is even-though our community area is in the direct path of one of the proposed routes
- One point from the SSEN-transmission site is the following
:-
The towers on the existing OHL between Kintore and Tealing are not able to be upgraded to operate at 400kV, due to the size of the towers; the conductors would not be able to achieve safe clearance distances and heights.
There are many documents and update on the SSEN-T site, which are sadly too large for our site to host, We will endeavour to collect a set of links to the most relevant, however it would be best to explore the site yourselves.
An update has been posted from the 13th June 2023 on the SSEN-T web site, which aim to clarify some points.
This is a new project and NOT The existing 275kV overhead line that runs from Kintore via Fetteresso and Alyth, Consent for this project was
granted in September 2022 with work commencing in February 2023 in the Fetteresso area and working north towards Kintore, this project is due to complete in 2026. ( Main Contractor Balfour Beatty)
SSEN-T state that they have commenced LiDAR flights and drone surveys to undertake aerial surveys on potential overhead line routes, alongside other assessments
SSEN-T say "in response to concerns about towers being 75m high we would like to clarify that the towers will be on average 57m high", this does not address what the actual min and max heights that would be required on the route
No notes or statements with regards to the new design T Pylons, which are being used in England, to also carry 400 KV cables, these pylons are generally 35m hight and present a lower visual impact on the route, also the ground foot print area seems to be lower than the lattice pylons.

Speed Sign Costings
After a few enquiries, we have received some pricing for the active speed signs, some of these units are self powered with solar recharging,
Sadly it looks like from the emails I have so far received
all of prices for these types of signs are at a price point which may be out of the groups reach
The group will need to reach out again both the vendors, our funding sources and with the local council to look at the detailed costing
An additional point was also to look at the data logging side of these devices

Bad year for Pot holes
It would seem that this year has not been great for the condition of the road in the community, after a walk along a small section of the A928, I have counted at least 4 new Pot holes, which are not yet marked up for repair yet!
I also spotted one pot hole which has been marked up for repair. This has been outlined in red maker paint
If you have seen more potholes on A928 or badly degraded road surfaces, please let me know, with their location, by the 16th April 2023, I will then submit all of these as one batch to the council for action and follow up. (Inc photo's)
Here is a little fun page of the one's I spotted so far. a bit of a rouge's gallery .
I might do a before and after pages as and when the repair's are done
New website for signing up to the Priority Services Register
A New website makes signing up to the Priority Services Register easier than ever, SSEN say
The new website, launched with the support of the energy network operators across the U.K. today,
it will offer a quicker and more straight forward process for energy customers to sign up to the Priority Services Register.
The restrictions were lifted on the 2nd March 2023
Whilst the community is not either of the two currently defined zones, we are very close to them

Resuscitation Council UK
This web site has number of very interesting and relevant links regarding resuscitation, A.E.D.'s
One of the many subjects they are involved with or are responsible for, is the creation of and support for a standard set of unit and device symbols for automated external defibrillator or A.E.D.’s, along-side a public awareness campaign.
For more information please look at their site www.resus.org.uk
For more resources and information please see the following public resourcess
The U.K. styled signs for A.E.D.'s are as follows
For reasons which are not clear to myself, it would seem the UK has decided not to use the Internationally recognized symbol for AED’s which is as follows.
This symbol is registered with the I.S.O. org https://www.iso.org/obp/ui#iso:grs:7010:E010

The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) Scheme in Dundee is scheduled to start from the 30th May 2022, however the key point of enforcement (Fines !) for non-compliance will not not start until the 30th May 2024.
Here is the map of the Dundee L.E.Z. which give the important boundary to the zone.
Currently (March 2023) there, are very few exceptions to the proposed enforcement of the changes, the key one is blue badge holders.
The other key point is unlike the ULEZ in London, where you can pay a daily charge. In Dundee and other city's in Scotland, it will be fine's if your vehicle is not compliant!
There are some key websites for information and any possible changes or updated - please see the following pages.

Broadband upgrade to fibre (R100) schemes, and other high speed internet access solutions After checking a number of sources, it would appear that the community has now been dropped further down the Fibre roll-out planning.
- As a group we might be able to get this changed if enough residents put requests into Ofcom.
The first stage is to collect information on how were are currently connected, this is due to the fact that some of us are not using landlines for broadband.
For those who are using a landline - a visit to the following site to collect the information provided would be a great starting point.
The other fact is that group is split into two exchanges,(area codes), I am unsure of how this may impact any approach to Ofcom.
